Concert of Remembrance

Sunday, March 12, 2017 // 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM

| Free

The Concert of Remembrance, presented by Cascadia Composers, commemorates the 75th anniversary of President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Executive Order 9066, which uprooted over 100,000 people of Japanese ancestry who lived on the U.S. Pacific coast and placed them in internment camps. This free concert is presented as part of the Oregon Historical Society’s Second Sunday Series, in collaboration with the Oregon Historical Society, the Oregon Nikkei Legacy Center and the Japanese American History Museum. Along with premieres of new works by Oregon composers Daniel Brugh, Ted Clifford, Denis Floyd, Jan Mittelstaedt and Greg A. Steinke, the concert will feature internment camp photographs of New Mexico by photographer Joan Myers, poetry/recitation by former Oregon Poet Laureate Lawson Fusao Inada and a video from the Oregon Nikkei Legacy Center.
