| FreeEvent Navigation
In the heart of the notoriously grey and rainy Pacific Northwest, Ralph Pugay and Ariana Jacob will install S.A.D. Park, the world’s first park created for people with seasonal affective disorder. S.A.D. Park is designed to ease one of the most prevalent mood disorders in our society, and features healing levels of bright lighting, botanical landscape design, architectural features, sound-scapes and aromatherapy to address and alleviate S.A.D. symptoms through multiple modalities simultaneously. The park will also offer group classes and personalized consultation to support people learning how to live with and overcome their mood disorders. S.A.D. Park will be free and open to the public, with viewing accessibility Friday 4:30pm-9:00pm, Saturday 9:00am-9:00pm, and Sunday 9:00am-5:00pm.
Houseguest is a new residency program hosted at Pioneer Courthouse Square. Houseguest residents have the opportunity to reimagine this space through creative pursuits that vary from larger-than-life installations to spontaneous, intimate performances and everything in between. Each Houseguest will work on-site at the Square for a long weekend, facilitating relationship-based, socially-engaged interventions that inspire and catalyze interaction among PCS’ diverse publics.
Houseguest is supported by Pioneer Courthouse Square, Inc., The Oregon Community Foundation, and The James F. and Marion L. Miller Foundation.
