From www.portlandoregon.gov: The water flowing in decorative fountains is not for drinking. To conserve water, most of these fountains recycle water. Interactive fountains are chlorinated to the level of a swimming pool but are still not safe to drink.
Please use caution at all fountains. Slippery surfaces, rapidly moving water, and pools of water require careful attention.
Fountains will start to be turned on during March and April when freezing temperatures are no longer a risk.
