DESCRIPTION:The Portland Winter Light Festival (PWLF) is a free\, public\, light arts and cultural event that will illuminate and transform OMSI February 3-6\, 2016 from 5-10pm each night. This inaugural festival is designed to showcase unique light-based art\, engage Portland’s diverse communities and create remarkable opportunities for artists\, makers\, performers and technology innovators. On the east bank of the Willamette River\, the festival will develop collaborations and partnerships\, foster community participation\, and attract a diverse cross-section of visitors nightly after sunset.\n\nPWLF is an all-volunteer organization and is an event of the Willamette Light Brigade.

DESCRIPTION:The Cascade African Film Festival showcases 18 outstanding feature\, documentary and short films from 11 African countries: Algeria\, Morocco\, Egypt\, Ivory Coast\, Nigeria\, South Africa\, Kenya\, Uganda\, Rwanda\, Sudan\, and Ethiopia. This year the Thursday Evening Documentary Film Series showcases documentaries that investigate how music and the performing arts can be a powerful force for social change and cultural expression in times of both war and peace.\n\nThe Opening Night film The Rooftops directed by Algeria’s foremost film director\, Merzak Allouache\, on Friday\, February 5\, at 6:00 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. at the Hollywood Theatre\, 4122 N.E. Sandy Blvd. Mr. Allouache will introduce and discuss his film at both screenings.\n\nAll films will play at PCC Cascade’s Moriarty Arts & Humanities Bldg\, Room 104 with the exception of Opening Night and Centerpiece Films\, which will play at Hollywood Theatre.
