DESCRIPTION:The Cascade Festival of African Films shows us Africa through the eyes of Africans\, rather than a vision of Africa packaged for Western viewers. The films celebrate Africa’s achievements\, expose its failures\, and reveal possibilities for a hopeful future. Although the films cannot represent an entire continent\, we hope to encourage American viewers to become interested in and study African cultures.\n\nThursdays through Sundays. All films will play at PCC Cascade’s Moriarty Arts & Humanities Bldg\, Room 104 with the exception of Opening Night and Centerpiece Films\, which will play at Hollywood Theatre. DESCRIPTION:Now in its 30th year\, the Fix-It Fairs are free events where neighbors come together to learn simple and effective ways to save money and stay healthy at home this winter and beyond.\n\nWhat is a Fix-It Fair? Each all-day fair features exhibits and workshops from dozens of community partners. Experts are ready to talk about water and energy savings\, home and personal health\, food and nutrition\, community resources\, recycling\, yard care and more! Additionally\, the fairs provide free professional childcare and lunch to attendees.\n\nNew this season\, all three fairs will offer workshops presented in Spanish\, in addition to workshops in English. Repair PDX will again offer Repair Cafés at the fairs\, with volunteer “fixers” on hand to repair small countertop appliances and clothing or other items to sew\, like a backpack or stuffed animal.
